Start of the 2025/2026 Academic Year at EWST

The Evangelical School of Theology opened the new academic year with a time of shared reflection and gratitude for the past two decades of its ministry in Wrocław. For twenty years, EWST has remained faithful to its calling — to serve society through education, dialogue, and theological reflection rooted in respect and openness.

In his address, Rector Dr. Wojciech Szczerba recalled the school’s history and mission, expressing deep appreciation for all who have supported EWST throughout the years — staff, students, graduates, and friends of the institution.

“I declare the academic year 2025/2026 open.”
he said, comparing this moment to opening a door that leads toward new encounters, questions, and discoveries.

The Rector emphasized that human dignity — understood as being created in the image of God — and hospitality, expressed in openness to others and to challenging questions, remain at the heart of EWST’s academic life and Christian witness.

Dean Dr. Piotr Lorek highlighted the existential dimension of theology, reminding the community that faith and reflection must become a way of life.

“It is not enough to talk about life — we must live it,” he said, encouraging both staff and students to seek meaning not only in the world around them but also within themselves.

Both speakers shared a common conviction: theology is, above all, a space of encounter — not limited to the classroom, but alive wherever people meet, ask questions, and learn from one another.

As EWST continues its mission, the community remains grateful for the support of its friends and partners around the world. It is thanks to this shared commitment that the School can keep creating a place where people learn, question, accompany, and serve — in the spirit of faith, humility, and hope.
