EST at the SLOT Art Festival in Lubiąż

Time at the SLOT Art Festival in Lubiąż is a time of art, spirituality, and meaningful engagement. This year, the Evangelical School of Theology once again took part in this remarkable event.

On the 80th anniversary of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s death, festival attendees were invited to explore his legacy through a four-part lecture series. We reflected on his life, writings, and spiritual heritage—from the Finkenwalde community and resistance work within the Abwehr, to the relevance of his thought in today’s world. Participants joined Prof. Jerzy Sojka and EST lecturer Dr. Joel Burnell on an intellectual and spiritual journey through Bonhoeffer’s theology. Each day brought a growing audience eager to delve deeper into the meaning of Christianity in times of crisis.

Alongside the lectures, Hebrew reading workshops were held daily, led by Izabela Bućkowska, a biblical scholar, Hebraist, and EST lecturer. Participants – whether curious newcomers or those eager to read the Bible in its original language – filled the room for all four days. In total, several dozen people joined the sessions, with a core group forming to focus on the basics of Hebrew reading.

For many, it was their first encounter with the Hebrew language – an experience they found highly rewarding and inspiring.

As in previous years, our reading-and-book booth was also present. It served as a space to connect with those curious about EST, as well as with our students and alumni. We shared conversations about theology, studies, and the questions that move us.

We’re deeply grateful to all who took part in our activities at this year’s SLOT Art Festival. See you next year!
